The Mechanical Design Engineer uses technical expertise, creativity and innovation to design and develop end-of-line packaging solutions from the conceptual design stage through to production in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined team setting, meeting quality, performance, cost, and schedule goals.
Requirements:
Experience and Skill Requirements
- This position requires a solid foundation of mechanical engineering, with 5 - 10 years of experience designing complex electro-mechanical projects.
- Design and communication skills that facilitate a team-based approach to integrate and work with other engineers, marketing, purchasing, manufacturing and support personnel, customers and vendors.
- Proven experience creating designs to meet Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
- A high level of proficiency with 3D parametric CAD modeling software such as Inventor, Solid Works, Solid Edge.
- Understanding of machine shop tools: engine lathes, vertical milling machine, sheet metal forming, welding technologies, MIG, TIG, measuring equipment, and machine shop practices.
- Practicing knowledge of machine design materials: plastics, low and high carbon steels, various aluminum alloys, stainless steels, carbon composites, etc.
- Experience with BOM generation, and use of MRP/ERP systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Communication must be timely, clear, and complete.
- Demonstrated mature technical judgment.
- Sustained record demonstrating initiative, motivation, and a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated high ethics, integrity, honesty, and patience.
Education Requirements
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
